Dominos, Tall Towers, and Starfish: How the Use of Mathematically Challenging Tasks Impacted Both Teachers and Students in Elementary Classrooms

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Feedback form is now closed.

This interactive and informative session is based on a pilot study in K-5 mathematics using challenging mathematical tasks. We will share the results of the study through teacher’s responses to the use of summer program tasks, insight into how the students engaged as problem-solvers, three NRICH tasks with student focus group excerpts, and teacher interviews. These strategies support student engagement with tasks and interactions with peers. We will also share teacher coaching that can be used in any school setting.
